Street and Track Creds in Spades

The 993 Turbo S is without a doubt the ultimate 993, and like all turbo 911’s, has a more athletic, pumped-up appearance than the standard 911. As with earlier turbos, beginning with the 930, the fenders have been flared outwards to fit much wider front and rear tires, giving the car a sinuous, soda-bottle shape similar to the 959’s. The S-version is further differentiated from the standard Turbo by its yellow brake calipers, larger-than-normal-turbo rear wing, and 959-style air scoops behind the doors. It’s impossible to ignore in your rear-view mirror, and it won’t be there for long.

“Launch the 424-horsepower war machine with both turbos spooling, and all four Pirelli P-Zero tires struggle for traction and catapult the 3,307-pound car off the line. You’re thrown back into the leather-wrapped buckets as 0-60 mph flashes by in 3.6 teary-eyed seconds. The interior treatment is every bit as intense as the performance, with leather covering every surface not already treated to carbon fiber. The workmanship is truly amazing, as every knob, switch, dial, vent, and stalk is smoothly wrapped in red-mist cowhide… Even the CD stereo is extraordinary with the optional Nokia digital sound-processing unit (auxiliary controls hidden in the driver-side armrest bin) optimizing myriad audio settings. Given the extent of interior treatment and ultra-performance on tap, we half expected to find an 18-karat “Get Out of Jail Free” card in the glovebox.

This Car’s Past

This 993 Turbo S was purchased new from Brumos Porsche, as a birthday present for its first and only owner to date. It has been housed in his collection and beside several other exclusive automobiles since, and driven only occasionally during the Spring and Summer seasons for exercise.

Historic Context of Model

This Turbo S, having been made in limited numbers, differs from the standard Turbo. Only approximately 345 were manufactured for the entire world. It has larger, K-24 turbochargers, an upgrade for the Motronic engine control unitade, additional oil cooler, and a modified dual exhaust with Quad round tips vs. the standard dual ovals. These, along with a few minor engine improvements, produced 424 hp, 25 hp more than the standard turbo, in the last of the traditional, air-cooled 911 Turbos. Motor Trend ran a record-setting 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds and the quarter mile in just 11.9 seconds! The Turbo S was further distinguished from the standard Turbo by Aerokit II front and rear spoilers, a pair of side-mounted air ducts, and additional air inlets near the headlights.

Market Trend

Many Porsche connoisseurs consider the 993-generation the ultimate example of the 911. Porsche touted an all-new aluminum, multi-link suspension that tamed the over-steer ‘snap’ that infamously could surprise a driver. All new body panels presented a wider, more voluptuous body. A carefully cared-for Turbo S model should continue to be appreciated for its performance, handsome appearance, and practicality within the super car category.

Summary

This is a special opportunity to acquire one of the fastest, and most-collectible limited production Porsches in history. It has had only 1 owner from new, and is complete with the original Bill of Sale, books, tools, records, extra key and alarm remotes. A seldom-seen color, combined with Special Leather interior and sought-after options, make this one on offer, a rarity among the rare.
